What to wear to NYFW?

    Picture from  guardian.co.uk
For the first time ever I am attending New York Fashion Week. After the shock of receiving my invites wore off,  my anxiety set in. Do I know what to wear to Fashion Week? Sure, I have been following "What I wore to Fashion Week" posts by other bloggers for the last few years, but the idea of putting together my own NYFW outfits seems very daunting. Normally getting dressed is my favorite part of the day, so to ease my fears and get excited about dressing up I am turning to some street-style pictures for inspiration.

After assessing my closet, I think there are three looks I could pull off:

1. Down to Business
This look says I just came from the office and I am a chic, sophisticated lady. Some high waisted trousers and a structured blazer would be the best way to pull off this look. Try this Elizabeth & James blazer or this Topshop Ponte Notch Neck Jacket paired with these J.Crew Cafe Capri pants.

2. Preppy
I am admittedly most comfortable in preppy outfits. A mini skirt, oxforts and an embellished sweater  is what I would pair for this look. Try this Madewell Silhouette Skirt  with a 50s style sweater such as the J.Crew Color-block Cardigan.

3. Romantic
A beautiful flowing skirt would make for a confidence building outfit. I am considering lawyering a leather moto jacket over a vintage dress. To copy this street style try the Tibi Full Silk Skirt with the J.Crew Tippi Sweater and Madewell Leather Jacket.

What about you? What would you wear to NYFW? Check back next week to see what I figured out!

Congrats! How fun! I appreciate that in the world of crazy shock and awe street style that comes out during fashion week, you're trusting and staying true to your own personal style.

Congrats on your first nyfw trip! I have my fingers crossed for September :) Just be yourself - dress in whatever you feel most comfortable in! But then maybe add a few riskier pieces, it is NYFW after all! Have fun!! xo

go for the glam
